The Provenance of Pause Hydra Creme:Bergamot Essential oil

Some surprising ingredients you probably did not know are in Pause Hydra Creme.

Essential Oils
For a truly integrative experience we have added three essential oils which are all well known for their therapeutic values in treating menopausal symptoms.

Geranium oil – Also known as the ‘ladies’ oil for its use in treating many menopausal symptoms. Rebalances, stimulates and stabilises.
Bergamot oil – Uplifting, toning and refreshing
Lavender oil – Rejuvenating, calming and relaxing

Here we explore the provenance of Bergamot oil.

It has been said that Columbus brought the original plants from the Canary Islands to Italy

He brought the plant back to the city of Bergamo and this is the origin of the western name Bergamot.

The Genus species is Citrus bergamia and we use the rind or peel of the plant in the production of the oil.

The documented uses and benefits of bergamot include combating stress. It has traditionally been used for oily and troubled skin. And is the oil that gives Earl Grey Tea its fantastic and unique flavor!

The essential oil Bergamot is also reputed to have an Aromatic Affect on the Mind!  Its sweet and fruity aroma is uplifting and relaxing.

In Napoleonic times it was trendy to use Bergamot as a Cologne and Perfume and was purportedly a favourite of Joséphine de Beauharnais the first wife of Napoleon I .

Josephine by some accounts was a lascivious figure and in one letter Napoleon writes "I awake full of you. Your image and the memory of last night’s intoxicating pleasures has left no rest to my senses".

The benefits of bergamot include the spiritual and emotional as well. Bergamot releases the need to be in complete control so that we can flow with life more easily. It is said to be uplifting toning and refreshing.

The essential oil Begamot is included in Pause Hydra Crème formulation at strength and of the highest quality.

While bergamot fruit is harvested over the 16-week period from November until March, it is the oil extracted from fruit that is picked during the first 6-8 weeks that delivers the superior characteristics and qualities.

Fast forward and Bergamot is still one of the most coveted of the essential oils and is reportedly a favourite of

Reese Witherspoon
